NOTES FROM THE CREATOR:
Come on -- you know you want to come in and revisit the horrors that was House of Spiders, now here it is -- published with Donna Burgess' Naked Snake Press Books. Pure horror in the eyes of those who want horror the way it was meant to be. I knew that I couldn't do this monster alone, so after publishing Barbara Marjanovic on QUAKES AND STORMS and the second issue of the magazine. It took me reading her in 2003 and after picking up her collection I thought, this is the writer that I should write the story with.
So the process of writing the novella started on September 22, 2005, I opened the whole gaping wound up again and let the spiders loose. Then Barbera Marjanovic was writing her parts -- we were thinking, "Damn this bastard is going to be one of the most viseral stories we've either written. If those of you from FictionPress.com or AuthorsDen.com remember when I unleashed this monster will know it was going to unleash a prequel and a sequel. Terry Vinson got to read the prequel and the first sequel to the series. Now here I am almost a year later from the two months to the day that it first got accepted by Donna. It was 2 in the morning and I nearly woke up my room mate doing cartwheels in the apartment. If two authors encouraged a sequel to House of Spiders, it had to be Terry Vinson and Casey Gordon. They saw it coming and damn I didn't realize it was going to be this visceral of a monster novella too. 86 pages of pure unadulterated macabre insanity.
This thing is macabre -- counting at least 30 fatalities in a horror novella (hey Victor Miller, I just beat your record. Sorry Friday the 13th, these spiders are meaner than Jason Vorhees.) You give these spiders an immortal ability of Dracula and a nasty attitude of Cthulhu, you wouldn't want to meet these bastards in a dark alley. So I completed House of Spiders 3 with Barbara Marjanovic about the time when Donna Burgess sent me Awake Ghost Song. So here it is -- the motherfucker of all horror stories written right here, as Macey Wuesthoff said with House of Spiders -- one of the most hardcore horror stories within the Vampire genre was unleased but this one is more than that. The undead bugs are back and they are meaner than all hell -- get used to these mother fuckers and don't go singing itsy bitsy spider around them either.
We won't flinch -- you wonder what Barbara Marjanvoic writes like by herself or wonder what I write like alone? Why not see what we do as a collaboration, this is something that will make you flinch if you're chickenshit of spiders. If you want to get caught up on the series I suggest picking up Reality Check: An Anthology Of Horror with the story Bite of the Spider exclusive to that anthology. You don't have to be a Goth to be scared, quoting a good friend of mine referring to Writings From The Grave during one of its incarnations. Bonechilling horror from two horror writers writing one huge novella, 86 pages of jolting action horror. From beginning to end this novella will take you into the lungs of hell into the new spiders den. The survivors of House of Spiders, escaped one hellish nightmares and entered a new nightmare where the eight legged undead taken up a residence inside another hospital this time populated. Marjanovic handled all the Canadian characters and their dialog, the doctor characters she introduced. I reintroduced a minor character from Bite of the Spider, one of the cameramen from the story and he's one of the instrumental characters in this incarnation of House of Spiders. So the motherfuckers are back with a vengence, taking up a new residence.
