You can write many books with beautiful covers and they will not mean anything if there is not a message. The message in What Happened to Suzy contains the means to change lives. One child's struggle simply to be accepted by her guardian would have been enough; However, after leaving home where the mother calls Suzy, "a pidgeon-toed" cocke-eyed bitch, (among other names) on a regular basis, stands the means to destroy Suzy's self-esteem.
miraculously Suzy fights back by loving those who hate her. Her self love is played out behind dark closet stores. Suzy uses broomsticks and turns them into loving figures that did not exist in her real life.
The adorable child has a forgiving heart indeed. For when nobody loves or accept you, other than God - Suzy found answers by drawing from deep within.

A Must Read
What Happened to Suzy is the Groundhog day of my writing career. As I move on to one writing project after another, I am reminded of my responsibility to humanity when people tell me they still want to know about what happened to Suzy. Suzy opens the door for me to share information with others that will actually be instrumental in helping them move along during and after being abused. In the 70's it appeared to be no such thing as Child Protective Services. Now CPS exists in just about every state and all across the country.
Growing up in an abusive home is a very difficult thing to survive if you don't know that what you're going through is criminal in nature. Having the love of my sister Barbara and the support of other family members like my brothers, Jerry, Richard and Randle made it easier for me to escape the continual pain of my abusers at times. After the physical, mental and social abuse I suffered growing up, I believe the most salient point I made in What Happened to Suzy is that "No child has to grow up being abused, in any way, shape or form."
I am surprised that readers maintain an interest in a book I truly didn't want to write, but had to. When asked what is my favorite production, I never say "What Happened to Suzy." Yet, somehow it's favored among readers here and abroad. Even the Library of Congress has maintained the original manuscripts in the archives. Well, thanks humbly for your support, and thanks for utilizing this experience to help another abused child.
