A verse-by-verse journey through the greatest love story ever told - The Book of Ruth.
Who doesn’t appreciate a good love story? Though this one comes directly from the Scriptures, it possesses all the ingredients of a Christian romance novel or a blockbuster chick-flick. While much of Ruth might read like a fairytale romance, it is a true historical account. Along with her love interest, Boaz, the name of Ruth is found in the genealogy of Christ, listed in the Gospel of Matthew. This is fitting as there are parallels to their stories. Both are about redemption. This is what makes Ruth’s story so significant. She is the destitute damsel who comes out of the world and finds hope in Bethlehem. This is where she meets her redeemer. However, the story of Ruth is included in Scripture to tell a much bigger story. It is your story and mine. Like Ruth, we came out of a hopeless world in a state of utter destitution. Then, one like Boaz claimed us as His bride and redeemed us. Though Ruth is just a tiny book, within it is the greatest love story ever told.
