"Rumor has it that you are losing touch with women, Robin. Did you notice that Christine hardly paid you attention."
"I realized I was out of her reach when you enchanted her with examples from your clasic music treasure-trove. Did she appreciate your choice of music for lovers?"
"I'm glad you reminded me, I happened to step on one of the discs you had dropped in my letterbox, one of them broke, the other one perfectly accompanied our doings."
"I took it that "Pomp and Circumstance" would correspond with your art of mating. Otherwise, it was meant as a joke. But you can't make parody of parody, can you?"
"Pomp and Circumstance was the one that broke."
Robin sighed. "Is that why I'm here. To avoid diplomatic complication you want to apologize for offending the work of Britain's greatest composer."
"I didn't know he's English." Freddy tore a sheet from his notepad and waved it in the air before shoving it over the desktop to Robin. "Read this carefully, Webster, you won't believe it...

Freddy pressed out his famous ready-to-cry smile.
"Hello, Chief Inspector, long time no see."
"Not long enough."
As usual, Robertson's air and authoritative carriage had a subduing effect on everyone around. The deep-set eyes drifted between the two private investigators as if he had been scrutinizing dog's excrement on his living room carpet.
"I should have guessed. Whenever a case is messy enough, Freddy Larson turns up and makes it messier. I assume there is a strained explanation for your presence."
Robin sensed that whatever the explanation, it would come out strained.
"Do I detect a negative attitude against honorable citizens, doing their utmost to assist justice and an overstrained police force?"
"If that's what you're up to, yes you do...
