This historical adventure saga based on scripture, presents the premise that our Father in heaven "...sends holy guidance and higher wisdom to his earthly progeny periodically, and continually" ... offering insight on religious diversity, and inspiration for those who bestir themselves to develop spiritually.

Excerpt, second chapter: Gray eyes brimming with compassion for his wayward people, Lehi prayed vehemently, promising to do anything, if only God would not destroy the holy city. He poured his heart out, unto exhaustion; and with exhaustion came remorse for his weakness. Prostrate upon the wet earth, face down ... A loud swishing sound. His head jerked up. There appeared a pillar of fire in the air before him, seemingly belching from the cold wet boulder below--an awesome, crimsom flame swirling, billowing, even swelling in the rain! And so close he could have touched it. Yet the mortal felt no heat....

"And his soul rejoiced at the sharing... all the great and marvelous things that he had seen, Yea, which The Lord had shown unto him..."

A Great Read!
"For centuries artists, authors and composers have been inspired by holy writings, and "The Other Sheep" continues the tradition. Delma Luben's novel retells pre-recorded events circa 600 BC. The gripping story describes the travels and travails of two families commanded by God to leave Jerusalem and venture into the wilderness. Eventually, they reach an azure sea, and there these landlubbers are atounded when The Lord decrees that they build a ship to continue their journey to The Land of Promise.
The characters involved in this grand adventure are complex and believable. Lehi, the patriarch, is filled with the Spirit as he guides his followers. And the lack of faith of his older sons is an ongoing source of puzzlement for him. Meanwhile, his down to earth wife, Sariah is troubled by practical questions. "What kind of life could she expect for her sons? Isolated from civilization, how could they reach fulfillment, raise a family, reach their destiny?" Ruth, wife to the youngest, is for the most part a dutiful and loving companion, but news of the planned ocean voyage transforms her into a bundle of irrational fears....
Delma Luben has many years experience, and in particular is the author of a great collection of advice for inexperienced writers called "The Writing World." In her deft hands, this story of a quest undertaken faithfully but fraught with family conflict becomes a captivationg read.

Fascinating Historical Adventure Saga
"The Other Sheep," based on scripture provides an intriguing account of heaven's intervention in the lives of God's earth children.
Internationally noted author Delma Luben calls the book "a novelization of scripture."
This award winning author-philosopher-poet has published nine books, as well as hundreds of magazine articles, essays, newspaper features, biographies, and more than 1000 poems.
A lifelong student of religious hitory and philisophy, she first read the Bible from cover to cover at the age of 12.Then commenced her study of all Christian, and world religions. This story based on scripture reveals what she calls "the simple truth," ascertained after forty years of religious studies... The premise outlined in the introduction of The Other Sheep: That God sends holy guidance and higher wisdom to all his earthly children, that all religions, East and West, have at their core "love one another," in spite of continuing conflict and wars between the folds. She wonders why so much of the world continues to focus on our differences rather than the underlying sameness.... She hopes this boook will offer insight and inspiration for change, toward ending religious wars.
The Other Sheep abounds with character and conflict, making for a page turning read, as Lehi and his family struggle through the wilderness, suffering hunger, danger, and continuing internal family strife. Finally they come to a sea, are commanded to build a ship, and go forth upon "the great waters" toward the promised land--which twenty centuries later became "the land of the free" for all oppressed peoples of the world.
