A novel about romance, relationships, friendship, and finding inner strength.

Amy Stafford is a forty-five year old social worker, who thought she had found happiness in her second marriage to Scott, a successful attorney. To family and friends Amy seems to have it all; a successful career, a beautiful home and a husband who is deeply in love with her; but things aren’t as they seem. After three years of marriage, Amy’s relationship is falling apart, a fact that her husband isn’t able to recognize. As much as Amy would like to leave Scott, she doesn’t have the courage to do it. As she resigns herself to the situation, a series of events happen to change her life. Just as she watches her life tumble down around her, a relationship from the past comes back into focus. As Amy finally begins to realize her one true chance at happiness, an unexpected surprise comes about, which may alter her plans for the future she dreamed of.

Excerpt

The next few weeks seemed to take their time slowly dragging by, but before I knew it, Terry
was saying goodbye to me at the airport.

“Amy, don’t worry. I know it’s difficult, but everything is going to be just fine,” she said,
giving me a hug.

“Thanks, Terry…and I hope you’re right,” I answered, forcing a smile.

“I am right! Remember that,” she laughed. "And, Amy…if you need me, call, ok?”

“You know, I’m lucky to have a friend like you.”

“Amy, you’ve always been there for me… now it’s my turn. Kyle and I will be here to pick you up next Sunday.” As she hugged me goodbye, she added, “I know it’s difficult, but think
positive. It’s all going to work out.”

“You’re the best, you know,” I grinned as my eyes filled with tears. “Now enough of this! I’ve got a plane to catch!”

As I walked through the departure gate, I turned back, waving quickly to Terry as she disappeared from view. Although I was forty-five years old, I felt like a lost child, scared and alone. But Terry was right. I had to think positive. Although she believed everything would work out on both fronts, I had to prepare myself. The worse that could happen would be my
having to deal with my mother’s disappointment and criticism, and Jess’ rejection.

Taking a seat on the plane, I fastened my lap belt and placed my head back on the seat. As I closed my eyes I said a silent prayer, and told myself to get ready for what could be a very
unpleasant ride.
