Foreword

So far in this life I have spectacularly failed to find the other half of me, the Ying to my Yang, My True Soulmate, or even someone, even remotely closely resembling someone who can
Love as I can Love, Touch as I can Touch and Be as I can Be, especially with me!

There have been numerous occasions when, for some brief moments, now frozen in time, I mistakenly, as it turned out, thought I had indeed found the one I’ve been searching for.
One in particular unfortunately still resonates in the deep dark recesses of my mind. However, I have still not given up Hope of finding My Lady…yet!

The page proofs are in their final stages getting ready for printing, watch this space for more details

As is my wont, when, as I fondly call it, My Muse Strikes, I have sought out my ‘scratching pad’ and My Muse guides my quill across the page
somewhat in the fashion that the Victorians called ‘Automatic Writing’

I’ve never been able to explain it, nor would I wish to. It is what it is and starts and stops when it decides to. To coin another phrase some call it, ‘Instantaneous Verse’
My Muse can also paraphrase songs, create new original songs, write prose and verse for any given situation. She is extremely talented in ‘WordSmithing’ and I am more than grateful
that she chose my quill and I, to be her vessel. Thank you Muse!

I would like to thank you the Reader for buying my book. I hope you will enjoy it. If you do, kindly tell your friends. If you don’t, can we kindly keep this twixt thee and me! And I promise, if I ever see you with a copy, I’ll sign it for you! Enjoy! Thank you

Acknowledgments

To those instrumental in helping to make this book into the reality that you are now holding in your hands, apart of course from those ‘ladies’ whom you will meet in the pages of this book,
(names have been changed to protect the guilty!) My undying thanks and gratitude go to two very special ladies in my life.
Although I have never met either one of them in the flesh, or even with clothes on (Ermmm! A small tad of jocularity!) And whilst they never will be part of maybe a second volume in some future time,
as they are both firmly ensconced with their significant others, nevertheless, I send these ladies Love, Blessings and Rainbows for their encouragement, advice and their unstinting help
in aiding me to make this book into the aforesaid reality that it has become!

Thank you, in double billing order, my wonderful fellow authoresses:

My friend, Helen Wisocki:
http://www.innocencebetrayedbyclergy.com/ a fellow authoress and a good and trusted friend for her guidance, advice, encouragement and inspiration in helping me to bring this book to fruition, as well as her great review of this tome.

And by no means in second place, I did say this was double billing!

Zada Connaway:http://www.freewebs.com/zadaconnaway/ also a fellow authoress and good and trusted friend, for her guidance, advice, encouragement and inspiration in helping me to bring this book to fruition
Also to my Author Representative, Claudia P. of Outskirts Press: www.outskirtspress.com for putting up with my myriad questions with such friendliness, courtesy and professionalism and having the faith of the heart to guide me in the processes of bring this tome to fruition.

I couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you ladies from the Heart of my Bottom, or something like that!

To my children David and Victoria, whilst, albeit if only for a short time, I was able to be, ‘Your Dad’ rather than just, ‘Your Father’ please know this was not the way I wished it would have turned out. We can only handle what we handle, in the way we handle it, at the time we handled it. If Foresight were Hindsight we’d all be millionaires. Please know that I will always Love you and am and always will be very proud of both of you.

And last, but not least, to my so far still ‘Mysterious Lady’ wherever you may wander, I’ll be waiting for you…

Peace, Love and Rainbows

Rick to some, Rainbow to others and something unmentionable to many, but, you can call me Sir!

Excerpt

If you check out my website at http://rainbow689.fortunecity.com for Parts 1 and
2 of ‘Welcome To My World’ you’ll see I mentioned arriving back in England
after a particular ‘Rock and Roll Dream’ went down the tubes, well here’s some
of what happened during that particular Rock and Roll Dream...
(Note: Being originally from London, England my grammar, phraseology and
my spelling automatically revert to that which was ingrained into me through the
process of many rapped knuckles from my English Teacher: Sir Anthony John
Harding prior to me leaving Academia and enrolling in the University of Life!
As well as some new words from My Muse!)

Professional Reviews
Battle-Scarred Heart by Helen Tierny
Although Rainbow writes of his journey of broken relationships in 'Battle-Scarred Heart - A Brit's Witty Look At Lost Love,' he does it with his unique sense of humor, leaving the reader smiling quite readily. His British accent is apparent while reading, and it can almost be heard from the pages. He writes as if he's sitting with you telling his tales of woe. With frivolity and mirth, the transferred Brit inserts his witticism throughout his verse and stories. Battle-Scarred Heart is a fun jaunt through Rainbow's world of coming to the States from England. He tells of crossing the countryside searching for love and enjoying the astonishing sights he encounters. There were many broken hearts along the way--unfortunately all belonging to the lovable author. The section titled Heart/Soul Death Break is a heart-wrenching story of lost love. That he lost his 'true' love to a less-than-upstanding ex-priest truly breaks one's heart. But again, Rainbow keeps the read upbeat and interesting, encouraging the reader to continue through his anguish. Even in pain, the story has bits of silly humor, which seems to be a trademark. In 'The Soul Mate or Was She' story--another heart breaker, but an honest and again very entertaining read of a tragic saga of Rainbow's life. He has an ability to see through the pain and add his witty repartee to move his sojourns along to keep the reader from tears and smiling instead.
