B. A. Bouley Author

People say that “History Repeats Itself” or people that feel they are invincible will make the comment “It Can’t Happen to Me”. Just to show that history can repeat itself and in essence actually has throughout the centuries I investigated this subject and applied it to our present day problems. As you will see and I think will agree history does repeat itself and we are closer then we think to actually seeing this happen.

Throughout the centuries there have been many great empires. The Egyptian Empire was the worlds first Superpower and an old nation of Eastern North Africa. Egypt was one of the longest-lasting civilizations the world has ever known, spanning more than 3,000 years from about 3100 B.C.E. to 30 B.C.E.

For 1,850 years Egypt’s Predynastic era (5000 B.C.E.–3150 B.C.E.) were busy times of intense cultural and agricultural development, population growth, widespread settlement, and adding hieroglyphic writing. Egypt’s population was near 1 million when King Narmer united the “two lands” in 3100 B.C.E.

Excerpt

The solution would have to take many forms. We would need to do something about global warming, since this appears to the scientist to be a major problem that could actually make civilization as we know it or to become totally extinct. This is only one instant. I'm sure to stop man from becoming extinct we have to get rid of the mindset "It Can Happen To Us" and look seriously at what else could bring mankind’s demise. Like one or a combination of the following: nuclear war, meteors, global warming, crash of the world economy and the apocalypse, the world could easily end from any one or a combination of these occurrences.

I part of the prevention is to begin with ourselves. We should be honest and assess ourselves. By doing the self assessment we can begin changing our behavior so we can treat others better, this would actually help in turning around the anger that we see demonstrated and escalating everyday when we watch the news or read the newspaper. As Charles Darwin indicated. Evolution is not necessarily an ennobling change; survival of the fittest does not preclude the survival of the savage and the depraved. If we don't change; it appears that the savage and depraved will survive.

There is no simple solution but we still have time to act. We can begin with asking the politicians to push for and end to the wars we are now fighting, Show other countries that war is not always the answer to success and friendship, ask for stronger measures to control global warming, work on our economy and unemployment. Help the homeless not only overseas but in our own country. In America there are 3.5 million people that experience homelessness in a given year or about 842,000 people in any given week. I'm in no way against helping out other countries in need but we must put our priorities in order and take care of our own first.
