Chapter One
What has not killed me in my life, has defined me.
My behaviors and actions, mistakes have defined me more.
My entire life revolved around, selling, buying and cooking drugs.
I never knew I had any other choice. My name is Sky.
It isn’t hard for me to remember the first time I saw drugs. It was the very same afternoon I saw a pistol, not like the standard 10 or 12 gauge shotgun, dad had kept at home. But Dad had been gone and remarried 5 years by then.
There was a new kid at school. He was popular, adored by all the girls, and the son of a Federal Agent for Law Enforcement, just transferred to our city. No mother and no reasons offered.
I had no clue why 2 weeks into settling into school he asked me to ditch school and spend the afternoon at his house with him. No one would be home and he had some real cool cop stuff to show me. Nothing felt safer than hanging with a policeman’s son.

My life as a white, female drug dealer
Review by: lisa diver on May 18, 2012 :
Where to begin? This book is both compelling and shocking. The author pulls no punches and takes the reader on a journey; an honest, brutal journey which examines the nature of drug addiction and mental illness. Rarely have I come across a book which is thought-provoking, tragic, violent, uplifting and educational...all at the same time.
Frankly, not only was I unable to put this book down, I was also unable to stop thinking about its content for several days after reading it. If you only buy one book this year, make sure it's "My life as a white, female drug dealer." Not only is it the most important book this year so far, it will change your perspective about the life of an addict, forever.
My life as a white, female drug dealer
Review by: Mike Friedman on May 07, 2012 :
My Life as a White Female Drug Dealer is a narrative that pulls the scab off the glitz and glamour of the fantasy drug world. It is at once human and heart wrenching. The tone is sobering and the story continues to pull the reader further and further from what we imagine is civilization. This is a story not of innocence lost, but of innocence stolen and through pure force of will power, not innocence regained, but shattered dignity gathered. Journey to the underbelly of the beast and return wiser for it.
My life as a white, female drug dealer
Review by: Hayes Steinberg on May 07, 2012 :
Shocking. Honest. Holds no punches. A harsh and dramatic telling of the underbelly of society. What makes it truly unique is that it comes from a female perspective. Reading this once won't be enough!

Kimberly is not only a masterful, award winning author, but a stunningly brilliant and creative one, at that...
This book, based on her knowledge and personal experience with mindless physical and mental abuse, and mind-numbingly horrific trauma, is a truly gripping tale of one precious woman's singular bout for survival, any way she could...
We cry, we laugh, we gasp in horror, and we love with her, and in the end, she wants only one thing, to help others....
My god, any one event in this woman's life would bring any one of us to our knees, with the odds being we would never truly recover from it...and yet "Sky" not only does so, but wields a level or love and empathy beyond human capability....
And I would argue, this book, as well as her poetry books, presents Kimberly as that selfless of a soul...
A must read...and buy it for a friend...a loved one...and perhaps, just perhaps, save a life in doing so... |
