This book chronicals the seven years Dave Rineberg spent as Hitting Coach for the famous Williams sisters, Venus and Serena. Throughout those pivotal early years, the media presented various sides of Venus and Serena's fascinating rise to fame, but there's one side that no one else had access to----The inside!

With candor and wit, Rineberg writes about his experiences with Richard Williams, the controversal and controlling father, coach and manager; and about the early years, when Venus was just hype and Serena wasn't even a consideration. This book will take you to the practice courts, showing daily workouts and secret practice methods, and discuss the controversies that followed in the wake of Venus and Serena's fame.

Ride along and experience what Rineberg describes as a roller coaster ride from the tennis courts of South Florida to the lush green lawns of Center Court Wimbeldon and Stadium Court at the U.S. Open.

Excerpt

"When I got to the gate to re-enter the U.S. Open grounds, the attendant stopped me and informed me that I would have to buy another ticket to get inside. So, not only was I feeling a little low from Venus's brush off, but now I was also shut out of the U.S. Open grounds at 10pm without a ride. I took the number seven train back to Manhattan, thinking the whole time of the night's incidents and wondering if I should just 'Fade Away' , as my friend Angel with the band Wet sings, or if I should try harder to appease 'King Richard' and keep the roller coaster going?"

Do not start reading this book unless you have the time to finish it before you put it away. Nothing fascinates me more than a well written description of the truth behind successful people's rise to the top. The twist to this story is actually reality! The radical way in which their family functions gives the background with by which to better understand the girls and their game. On top of this magnificent story- you can learn a few pointers on improving your own game.

The book is great!! It was very, very interesting, I did not want to lay the book down. I am glad that Dave Rineberg took the time to write about his experiences with the Williams. He deserves the recognition for all of the hard work and time he gave. GO FOR IT DAVE!!!!!!!!!

And you thought fiction was fun. The truth behind the story of Venus and Serena's rise to fame, and the role their eccentric father Richard played in it, is more interesting than anything that could be made up. Rineberg does a great job of making the book easy to read and yet still enjoyable. It' chock full of stories of his experiences with the Williams sisters and their father that range from inspirational to downright bizzare. My personal favorite is a meeting between Rineberg and Ricard Williams at a local carwash to discuss Venus and Serena. The discreet location was hand-picked by Richard to avoid audio surveillance by the FBI!

All in all, it's a great book. And I'm glad Rineberg is finally getting some of the recognition he deserves for the part he played in Venus and Serena's rise to the top.
Well done!
