Fast-paced romantic suspense about a woman fleeing from her abusive husband and her efforts to become stronger mentally and physically in order to prepare herself for when her husband finds her.
After losing her unborn baby at the hands of her abusive husband, Kendra Salvatori manages to escape from a hospital in Knoxville, TN and ends up in Black Mountain, NC, where she collapses in the barn of Garth Fisher, retired hostage negotiator. Garth rescues Kendra from near death and nurses her back to health, falling in love with her in the process.
When Kendra is fully recovered, she insists on leaving, aware that her husband, Tony Salvatori, head of a small but powerful criminal organization in the Southeast, will eventually locate her. Kendra is in love with Garth by this time and very fearful of what Tony will do to him if he finds her with him. Garth manages to persuade Kendra to stay, convincing her that they are safe where they are, on top of a mountain which is virtually inaccessible during the winter. Because Kendra is so frightened of what will happen when her husband locates them, Garth and Kendra begin to prepare themselves mentally and physically for the battle they know they will eventually face.

The author of "Chasing Horses" and "Wayne's Dead" has done it again. Her gift for creating compelling characters and an exciting story comes a cropper in "Chasing Demons". This third book is Christy Tillery French at her best.
At age 14, a beautiful and innocent Kendra is "traded" by her father to Tony Salvatori. Tony is a mobster, an evil, murderous villain of the worst kind. Wealthy and powerful, he grooms the young girl he's renamed Angel to be his wife. At age 18, he marries Kendra/Angel and sets out to make her into the sort of woman he can be proud of in public. Over time her life becomes a nightmare of vicious beatings and observing Tony's murderous vendettas. When he deliberately causes her to miscarry their child, she escapes with the help of a sympathetic henchman.
Battered and hemorrhaging, she finds shelter on the property of Garth Fisher. Garth is a burnt out cop who lives in self imposd isolation in the mountains of North Carolina. At first shocked and moved by Angel's condition, he soon feels admiration for her courage. Over time, his concern for her turns to tenderness, and then love. The only man Angel has ever known intimately is the brual Tony. Garth's quite strength and gentle consideration are a new experience, one she'd like to explore if only Tony's spectre was not threatening their lives.
The raging Tony cuts a violent swath through several states in his maddened search for Angel. And when he and his goons catch up to Garth and Angel, all hell breaks loose. But Angel has vowed to rid herself of Tony. No more chasing demons. The final chapters are full of adrenalin pumping action as Angel takes her stand with Garth beside her.
It seems Ms. French can write in any genre. Her work is always "no holds barred" excitement, with strong and beievable characters racing to a satisfying climax. If you like action thrillers with a healthy dose of romance, give "Chasing Demons" a whirl.
Any movie producers out there? This one would make a thrilling movie.

Ms French delivers another gem for her rapidly growing list of fans to devour. Chasing Demons is a fast-paced, smooth read that I found fascinating and impossible to put down. It does what good fiction should do; entertain the reader from beginning to end.
Kendra Salvatori is married to the boss of a small crime organization. After years of enduring Tony’s brutality, she manages to escape. The parallel stories that materialize are perfectly blended. The gritty, violent side of organized crime is shown by Tony’s determination to find Kendra by any means possible. On the flip side, the reader follows Kendra’s will to survive and explore the new, gentle relationship with the man who saved her life. The reader can easily feel many emotions due to strong character development and the unique writing style of the author. This one has it all; mystery, suspense, romance, and a creative plot.
I challenge any reader to try to put this book down once they start to read it! The action and drama build until the exhilarating conclusion that left me breathless. Outstanding job Ms French! I eagerly anticipate your next book. You are setting the bar very high for yourself.

Send the kids off to Grandma’s house, your hubby off for a day of golf, then kick off your shoes, grab a copy of Christy Tillery French’s CHASING DEMONS and curl up in your favorite place to read. This well-penned adventure in suspense is a book you will want to read in one sitting.
Kendra (Angel to her husband) Salvatori is married to a zealous and cruel Mafia wanna-be who believes absolute control is power. Tony Salvatori wants to control his Angel while admiring her for taking his abuse rather than submit. Bruised and still bleeding from a particularly barbarous beating that resulted in a miscarriage, Kendra escapes. With a stealth born from her experiences, she finally seeks refuge in a barn in the Black Mountains of South Carolina.
Garth, ex-cop chasing his own demons, discovers the beautiful, near-death, Kendra nestled against one of his mares and nurses her back to life. The narrative that follows will warm your soul and showcase the power of love.
Christy Tillery French has a talent for concise and action oriented writing. Her multi-dimensional characters ring with authenticity and her story line binds readers from page one through to her inspiring conclusion. This gifted writer is headed for fame and a rightful place on the best-seller list. Congratulations Christy!
