Lucille Bellucci was born in Shanghai, China, to an Italian-Dutch-Indonesian father and Chinese mother. She has lived five years in Italy and 15 years in Brazil. Her short stories and essays have been published in national periodicals and literary journals, earning nine first-place awards. Her prize-winning story, "Cicadas," was nominated for the Pushcart Prize. She resides in Oakland, CA.

Information
War and revolution in China shaped my early life up to age 18. Italy was an improvement because there was no war but I earned a terrible living for the five years I lived there. San Francisco after that was heaven. Then Brazil, where I found myself a corporate wife. Being hungry in China and Italy was useful only as grist for my books and short stories.
