The Smorgasbord Approach is not just for food; it is for ideas, as well.
The Smorgasbord Approach that consists of a person
picking only the ideas wanted is the matter of this
discourse.
What is meant by Smorgasbord? Smorgasbord is
a Scandinavian meal originating in Sweden, served
buffet-style with multiple hot and cold dishes of
various foods on a table. From the table a person
can pick among many small dishes the food he
wants to eat.
Similarly, with the Smorgasbord Approach applied
to ideas instead of foods, a person picks among
many small ideas. It is worth noting that most ideas are small. Yet, how often do we sweat the small stuff?
With regard to the assortment of ideas rather than
various kinds of foods, the modus operandi is the
same as with food, the person picks the ideas from
among the many ideas - printed matter, media and
verbiage - that he wants to consume, think about,
focus on, while other ideas remain untouched,
not even allowed in-one-ear-and-out-of-the-other-
ear, so to speak, or to enter his psyche, or have
negative feelings, including the feeling of being
deprived because some idea or ideas were not
picked.
Now, the person having applied the Smorgasbord
Approach to picking ideas proceeds with the
awareness that ideas picked are all the available ideas and feasts on the ideas picked.
The Smorgasbord Approach of picking ideas is
a key to good health and happiness. Like paying
for food picked, a person pays for ideas picked.
He may pay more when he does not choose the
Smorgasbord Approach to picking ideas. Once
a person chooses the Smorgasobord Approach
to picking ideas he is not likely to return to the
"all-you-can-eat approach," or any other approach
that usualy includes choosing ideas that are not
best for him.
SMORGASBORD APPROACH...HMMMMMM. LET'S SEE NOW. I'M LOOKING AT THIS FROM A HIGHER PLANE, A SPIRITUAL PLANE...A HEAVENLY PLANE, IF YOU WILL. SO 'WE', MEANING THE WORLD'S POETS AND WRITERS ARE LAID OUT BEFORE GOD LIKE A SMORGASBORD AND 'HE' CHOOSES WHOM 'HE' WANTS TO WRITE AND WHAT 'HE' WANTS THEM TO WRITE. IN OTHER WORDS, 'HE' PICKS US, WE DO 'HIS' BIDDING. WE DON'T EVER CHOOSE...'HE' CHOOSES, 'HE' FILLS...'HE' INSPIRES. I WAS INSPIRED SOME TIME AGO TO WRITE A POEM ENTITLED, 'GOD'S POETS'. This is not a poem, but an interesting article. I have found that arguments that "cherry pick" just the factoids that support their arguments are not very good research. This is so often done with the Bible where almost any kind of point can be made by pulling Scripture out of context to make the argument.
And then there are those that do nitpicking of ideas. The one who take a single small idea and then focus in on it like it's the only idea there was, boring the reader with repetitious speaking at this or that part of the idea until it has nothing else left to give.
